Today is Crossword Puzzle Day, a day for all you dedicated cruciverbalists! The first crossword puzzle was published in the "New York World" newspaper edition on December 21, 1913. This puzzle was created by journalist Arthur Wynne from Liverpool, and he is credited as the inventor of the popular word game. As the popularity grew, more newspapers began publishing these puzzles and within a decade it was commonplace in almost every American newspaper.
